We have been doing our research on Memorial Day 2015 NYC Festivities. Here is our list of great things you can do for the long weekend. Memorial Day Party If you’re a fan of drinking and dancing all day until the sun goes down check out Might Get Weird. The Brooklyn based party and DJ collective are known for throwing some of the coolest parties around. The location of their Memorial Day Event still hasn’t been disclosed but you can RSVP to mightgetweird@gmail.com for more info on this dope event. Memorial Day Parade Looking for something a little more holiday appropriate and good for the whole family? The Brooklyn Memorial Day parade is one of the oldest parades for this holiday you’ll find, this is their 148th year! The parade starts at 3rd Ave and 78th Street and travels all the way to Fort Hamilton and finishes off with a 21 gun salute, this is not a sight to miss. For more info check out their website Memorial Day on Governors Island Governors Island officially opens for the summer on Saturday May 23rd! On Sunday May 24th Governors Island will kick off the summer with their Opening Day Family Festival. Head to Nolan Park to take part in all of the family fun! They will have loads of entertainment from the Central Park Zoo Wildlife Theater. Get your hands in some dirt and plant a flower with the Trust for Governors Island. When you’re at Governors Island make sure you check out Alchemy Creamery for some of the best handmade ice cream in the city. Forgot to pack your lunch? Although the Mets will be playing away you can head to your favorite outside sports bar and watch the game there! The Yankees will be at home all weekend, and there are bleacher seat tickets starting at $16.00 on stubhub.com! The New York Red Bulls will also be playing at home on May 24th, tickets are still available on ticket master starting at $25.00! No matter what you decide to do on Memorial Day there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s the beginning of the summer!
