It’s time for March Madness again! This event is the perfect excuse to go out and join the madness at a NYC bar or restaurant. If you’re the type who religiously follows which teams advance and aggressively roots for your favorite choice — or even if you’re not really sure what the fuss is all about — you’re sure to enjoy the party atmosphere with the food and drinks offered by these establishments. Look for these events from March 17 to the championship game on April 6. Here’s where to watch in March Madness in New York City: Getting in the March Madness Spirit These two locations are a little more excited about March Madness than many other NYC bars and restaurants, creating their own competitions that sports fans will love. If you’re looking for over-the-top fun that perfectly marries food and basketball, head here: DBGB: Sausage Tournament While DBGB Kitchen and Bar plays the games for basketball fans on a huge projector, it will have its own tournament that focuses on sausage and beer. It plans to have a contest to pick the best in-house sausage and the favorite beer based on which customers purchase the most. You can gorge on the winning sausage and beer combo during the final March Madness game. DBGB Website Franny’s: Pizza Contest In Brooklyn, check out Franny’s for a pizza event — tournament style. This restaurant can’t wait until March 17; they’re starting the festivities on March 2 with a competition for the best pizza between 16 rivals. Throughout March, diners can vote for their favorite, watching as some pizzas are eliminated and some advance just like their favorite teams. You’ll get to eat the winner for the rest of the month, which will include March Madness time. Franny’s 2015 Bracket Bounce Sporting Club If you find yourself starring into space at the office, then sneak out around 12 and catch a game on your lunch break at Bounce Sporting Club at either their Flatiron location or Uptown location. If you can’t make it out for lunch then stop by for some after work fun and “Wing your Bracket”. In honor of the NCAA Basketball Tournament, Bounce Sporting Club, is launching Wing Your Bracket–a wing menu repping each division of the bracket, each available for $13 all day long. Bounce Sporting Club will be playing every game across their 30 HDTV’s starting at 12:00pm daily until the final minutes of the last game, so stop by Bounce Sporting Club and enjoy some wings, beer, and of course college basketball! Other Spots Getting In on the Action Many other NYC bars and restaurants offer sports packages and specials to help you get in the right spirit for the games. Check out these choices: Public House: Pizza and Beer Specials Watch the season-finishing games at Public House. This restaurant prides itself on its happy hour specials, so of course it’s offering specials for this important sporting event. Buy buckets of beer for $25 or limitless beer and wings for $40 (we dare you to eat 40 wings!) Plus, you can enter the contest to win an iPad. You’ll be able to watch the game from the bar’s projector and 12 HD plasma TVs. If you have a big group that wants to go, you can reserve a private room, plus the place is more than happy to create a custom event package for you in advance. Space is limited, so you need to make reservations if you don’t want to miss out. The Royal: Specials and a Superior Watching Experience Head to The Royal, where they always put on events for the sports crowd. For March Madness, look for $5 draft beers, $7 shots, $7 wings and other specials. You definitely won’t have trouble watching the game from here — just sit down in front of one of the 45 TVs. That’s probably enough TVs for you, right? This place also has a posh atmosphere that’s perfect if you’re not into sports bars, and you can throw your own party if you book one of the private areas before the event. Three Sheets Saloon: The Sports Bar Experience For the full sports bar experience, you want Three Sheets Saloon. Watch the games from 25 high-definition TVs with the Mega March Madness DirecTV sports package. While you’re here, indulge in pulled pork nachos, buffalo chicken fingers, wings and other premium bar food. Hair of the Dog Bar & Grille: Greasy Food and Great Watching Hair of the Dog Bar & Grille offers March Madness games on 17 HDTVs and three projectors, so you’ll be surrounded by the game. This bar has the Mega March Madness package, so it’s ready for you. Order your favorite greasy, messy menu items, from traditional favorites like wings and nachos to specialty items such as Pizzadilla with fried jalapenos mixed with pepperoni. Unlike the Superbowl, which provides festivities for one day, this event gives you plenty of chances to stuff your face and drink to your heart’s content. Leave a comment to let us know if you plan to try one of these March Madness events. Maybe we’ll see you there!
