Cookie Time at Levain Bakery Upper West Side Bleecker May 31, 2015 Dessert, Featured, Food Types, Neighborhoods, NYC Store, Upper West Side Levain Bakery, a tiny shop below street level on West 74th St. and Amsterdam Avenue, is home to incredibly fresh baguettes, rolls, and muffins. Everything is baked on-site fresh every day from the finest natural ingredients. Their most famous product, however, are their scone-sized Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies. Packed with semi-sweet chocolate chips and chunks of walnuts, Levain’s cookies are thick and crisp on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside. Lining up at Levain Bakery The Levain Bakery itself is tiny and has a fairly limited menu but the line will go down the block for a chance to enjoy the unbelievably delicious cookies. Other flavors include Oatmeal Raisin, Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip. Whatever doesn’t sell each day (which is hard to believe anything is left behind!) goes to help feed the hungry. Levin Bakery also features a “cookie cam.” It captures images of customers walking into the store and posts them online organized by date and hour. Make sure to wave as you walk by! Levain Bakery has become both a neighborhood institution, where loyal regulars are greeted by name, and a popular destination for tourists. In addition to the Upper West Side there is a Harlem location and a Hamptons location in Wainscott. Levin Bakery also ships their world-famous cookies around the world! Check out their website for more information. Levain Bakery has definitely become a favorite destination on the Upper West Side and can be found all over social media. The Gooey Chocolate Chip cookies have been featured all over Instagram but since you can’t eat your phone, I suggest you head over to the bakery to get one for yourself.
