Erin KestenbaumWho’s Ready to Welcome Back Mad. Sq. Eats? Bleecker August 28, 2015 Daily, Essential Guides, Events, Featured, Food Types, Hot Spots, Midtown, Neighborhoods, NYC Experiences, NYC Happenings, Pop Ups Thank you, UrbanSpace, for curating some of our favorite pop-up markets around New York City. We’ve loved seeing you in Meatpacking, at Broadway Bites, in the Garment District, and especially at the Union Sq Holiday Market. At every location, UrbanSpace’s various collaborations always showcase an array of talented chefs, artisans, and entrepreneurs, uniting the elements of food and design in public spaces. As fall creeps up on us, UrbanSpace has partnered with the Mad. Sq. Conservancy for the eighth year to bring back Mad. Sq. Eats. Easing the sadness of summer ending, the gastronomic festival will open from September 4th to October 1st on Worth Square in the heart of the Flatiron District. The pop-up food market will feature over 20 culinary vendors for seven days a week from 11 am – 9 pm. The Newcomers to Mad. Sq. Eats: Farm Road Hospitality: Inspired by food served at state fairs across the country, this vendor will serve dishes like fried chicken biscuits with jalapeño cream corn or nugget potato salad. KOA’s: A modern Chinese noodle house specializing in healthy ramen. Expect to see a soy milk-based broth made from ko-cream in addition to the dish’s traditional soy sauce-based broth. Order it hot or cold. Jicama: Offering “California Street Food,” they’ll serve farm salads, tacos, and tamales. This restaurant believes in a perfect balance of healthy eating with an occasional splurge. We hear the Pork Donut Slider is a must. Featured Veterans at Mad. Sq. Eats: Milk Bar: The bakery associated with Momofuku restaurant group has quickly become an NYC staple. Indulge on cake truffles, crack pie, and a variety of cookies. Roberta’s: Bushwick’s renowned pizza spot is coming all the way from Brooklyn to spoil us with their heavenly pies topped with fresh mozzarella and seasonal vegetables. Uma Temakeria: This 7th avenue sushi shop made headlines and crowded our Instagram feeds with their sushi-burrito. Their made-to-order rolls are crafted with your choice of protein, vegetables, and signatures sauces. Melt Bakery: Ice cream cookie sandwiches with seasonal flavors and rotating gluten and dairy-free options. Calexico: It’s a hybrid of California barbecue and a Mexican taqueria. This restaurant is named after a real town on the American and Mexican border, two hours from San Diego. Nunu Chocolates: Another Brooklyn native, this chocolate ship believes that “the world is a better place when chocolate is involved.” We agree, so we’re definitely looking forward to sipping their frozen hot chocolate along with their handmade confections.
