CatinaRooftop.comVacation in NYC with Brunch at Cantina Rooftop Bleecker August 15, 2015 Brunch, Dinner, Drink Spots, Featured, Hell's Kitchen, Late Night Snacks, Mexican, Reviews Say ¡hasta la vista! to overrated and pretentious NYC brunch spots and try out the recently opened Cantina Rooftop. It debuted this year on Cinco de Mayo and will be open year-round for a rooftop dining experience, which includes their 20-person bar and lounge. What you will find at Cantina Rooftop When you walk inside this Modern Mexican, Hell’s Kitchen restaurant, you know you’re in for a fiesta: poncho-upholsted bar stools, brightly colored blue and orange patio furniture, and an abundance of jungle-like greenery. If it weren’t for the views, of both the NYC skyline and the Hudson River, you’d feel like you were vacationing in Punta Cana, nurturing last night’s hangover after rolling out of your plushy hotel bed. While you’re probably still recovering from Saturday night partying, you can leave your studio apartment without a plane ticket or passport and get the same effect by going to Cantina. Eating at Cantina Rooftop Executive Chef Gonzalo Colin brings his own flavor to NYC from his hometown, Mexico City, after working in restaurants in Hoboken and the City. If you’re searching for a brunch bargain, look no further because Cantina Rooftop offers a prix fixe option. For $28.95, you’ll get your choice of entrée and two mimosas or bellinis. If you opt for the regular menu, besides starting with one of their four different types of guacamole (yes, we said FOUR), we recommend ordering the Mexican Burger—the spicy aioli in place of traditional mayo adds a nice kick that is neutralized by a fried egg and some avocado. Or if you’re craving something sweet, try the Artisanal Pancakes with Mezcal banana flame and wild strawberries. The alcohol adds an interesting twist to the sugary dish without tasting too potent. You probably can’t go wrong with any of the choices: watermelon, pomegranate, ginger lime, or pepino… but we enjoyed the signature Cantina Rooftop Margarita with spiced rum, Mezcal, lemon, lime, and agave nectar. ¡Salud!
