Penne alla Vodka at Bar Pitti in the West Village Bleecker August 2, 2015 Dinner, Italian, Lunch, West Village I’d like to think of myself as a PAV (penne alla vodka #duh) connoisseur and Bar Pitti has been on my list of unreal PAV places to go for a while. Somehow it always got shafted because I had somewhere bigger and better to go. Looking back I regret this decision because if you’re looking for great PAV in NYC I’ve found your new go to spot. Bar Pitti Rigatoni is the Answer Not only was the PAV (actually it’s RAV, and if we’re being really honest its called “Rigatoni Pitti”) to die for, but also I had been told that their Burrata was bomb.com. Needless to say, I didn’t even need a menu when I sat down; the waiter was impressed with my ordering skills. Anyway, I was more than upset when they didn’t have the Burrata. I thought I was going to break into tears but then they told me they had a buffalo mozzarella special which lifted my spirits. The mozz was decent but I’m definitely going to have to go back for the Burrata. The ambiance at Bar Pitti is nice as well. They have out door seating which is great on summer days. I had read several reviews saying that there was beyond awful service but this was not something I experienced. Cash is King at Bar Pitti The only thing I was thrown off by was that it was a cash only restaurant, something that I thought should have been acknowledged either by the waiter when we sat down or on the menu. Nevertheless, there was a bank across the street and they let me awkwardly run across and take out some cash. If you’re anything like me and you love PAV, I’d head over to Bar Pitti ASAP. And if you want to get your Burrata fix I’d call ahead so there are no surprises or letdowns.
