I don’t know about you but after last week I could really use a drink. Luckily for me, there are about a billion bars (that might be hyperbole) in this great city. But I’m looking for more than a bar. I want an event. And I came across one that is both local (and fairly close to home) in the Third Annual Spirits of New York event in Williamsburg. Featuring liquor from a wide range of local distilleries the event is sure to have drinks that will please any and all liquor drinking connoisseurs (and if you really need an excuse just tell your significant other that you’re doing your best to support the local economy). Here’s what you need to know about it.

Third Annual Spirits of New York

New York (both the city and the state) is enjoying a resurgence of sorts when it comes to our domestic beer, wine and liquor production. Breweries have popped up all over the place, vineyards from Long Island to the Finger Lakes are of international repute and liquor, well we have that too. Though it hasn’t enjoyed the same popularity as our breweries and vineyards that could all change over the next few years thanks to New York States innovative legislation that relaxed restrictions on state distilleries. With regulations no longer impeding distilleries from making their best products, the industry has launched itself into a golden age thanks in part to Slow Food NYC and the New York Distilling Company (both of whom are hosting this year’s event for the third year running).

How to Get to the Third Annual Spirits of New York

The event will be hosted by the New York Distilling Company at their headquarters (right by McCarren Park off the L). But you’re going to have to do a little more than take the subway to get into the distillery. To get in you’re going to have to purchase some tickets which are currently running around at $40 per person (not a bad deal if you ask me). You can purchase your tickets here. The Third Annual Spirits of New York will begin at 7:00PM on November 18th. We hope to see you there!
