The sun is finally out and so is everyone in New York. With longer days, more daylight, and flowers in full bloom, we have no excuse to stay indoors anymore. But with more time outdoors, we’re spending less time in the kitchen, which usually means we’re either eating out or depending on frozen meals to satisfy.

What is Munchery all about?

Munchery believes we can do better than frozen meals and fast food. Munchery wants us to eat better, without sacrificing time. Munchery answers “What’s for dinner?” with nourishing, affordable, chef-cooked meals delivered right to your door. They hire local chefs to make a variety of meals – including many healthy, but also a few indulgent options. All are made using fresh, seasonal ingredients that are sourced from local, organic sources as much as possible. Every meal is delivered to you fully cooked, chilled for maximum freshness, and served in oven and microwave safe containers for easy heating in less than ten minutes.

I recently tried Munchery for dinner on a busy weekday night that left me just enough time to heat up a quick meal. To my satisfaction, it lived up to all expectations. Here’s how it went down:

I placed my order around 2pm that day for the 7-8pm delivery time slot. Heads up- you should try and plan your delivery earlier in the day, or even earlier in the week. At the time I placed my order, many options were sold out, or with just a few left in stock. Luckily what I wanted was still available. I placed my order for the Seared Yellow Fin Tuna Salad, as well as a Mixed Berry smoothie, which I used as my breakfast for the following day. It was delivered around 7:30pm. The salad was delivered basically ready to be eaten; I just needed to toss the dressing around. The ingredients were fresh and the serving of Seared Yellow Fin Tuna was quite larger than I was expecting. They even included a free cookie as an extra treat!

Would I order Munchery again? Absolutely. Their menu changes weekly, as well as a few changes daily. I like that they have options for all dietary needs and make it very clear on their site. It’s also fun to know exactly which chef has specifically created and cooked your meal. The site offers background information on each chef. Each meal, as well as each chef, has been rated by other users, giving you a more personal insight into what people think.
